Are you using the Android app called "move to iOS developed by Apple? Your Android will only be able to access data on icloud.com. There is no iCloud specific Android app and the experience on the web is not great.
There is no other automated way to attempt to migrate data.

I have been told by Apple support that I can upload to the iCloud and then download the content to my new phone but Im struggling to just upload anything from this iPhone x - this is my problem, getting the stuff off it to put somewhere lol
About all I can say is that you cannot transfer apps. iOS apps will not work on an android device. You need to buy the equivalent app on your new phone.
