Delete an app

I went to force quit an app but it did not show up in the force quit applications. So I tried once again to just delete it and it said I couldn't delete an open app.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.13

Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on Name, use the tiny x at top left there to Force Quit it.

Hi, welcome to the Apple Users Community.

If the App shows in your Dock then while holding down the option/alt key click and hold on the Dock icon, a pop-up list should show with Force-Quit as the first option.
