Dual boot Linux and MacOS

Hi everyone!

I'd look to setup a dual boot between MacOS Catalina 10.15.6 and a Linux distribution like Ubuntu, for example.

I have a MacBook Air from early 2015.

I don't have a live CD or bootable USB stick.

I found it was possible to install Windows as a dual boot with "Boot Assistant Camp" very simply but I don't know if it's also possible for Linux distributions.

Does someone know if it's possible, or have a solution to install Linux on MacOS as a dual boot without a bootable USB stick?

Boot Camp Assistant is for Windows only. If you want Linux on your computer use a Virtual Machine like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox to install Linux. You could also use a Linux to Go distribution to boot Linux from an external drive.

Boot Camp is for Windows only. I've never dual booted Linux with MacOS so do not know for sure if it is possible other than knowing it won't work with Boot Camp.

Thanks for your answer.

I had the idea of a virtual machine but the performances are not so well because it’s running on behalf of MacOS. This is why I prefered a dual boot.

I don’t think I have an external drive to boot Linux.

is it just you have no idea or is it really impossible?
