Most cases do not allow sufficient air-flow for MacBook/Air or MB/Pro

and so are not advised. Any additional layer, over where any vents or

contact-cooling was intended, isn't a good thing. The body of Mac is

a cooling surface, too; so layers over act like blanket. Stays too warm.

Some cases are barely shells, with larger openings; may not hold heat.

Be sure if you purchase one, you've researched the design and seller

should have a good return policy. Avoid running portable Macs inside

snug-fitting case & note padded cases are intended for travel use only.

One of mine had a super nice neoprene case, that was designed to run

Mac portable with the case still attached, unzipped. ~ That, was bad idea!

Take care & good luck!🌞⛵️

Suggestions proposed include padded case, to store or transport.

And vented loose hard cases, too; for use on running Mac could

be used; but close tight ones hold heat and can damage Mac.

So it would be in your best interest to note construction & design

of portable cases; most try to be tight fitting and fashionable. ~ IF

check seller's return policy prior to buying, your costs will be less.

No point in owning a poor design, that passively causes damage.

Good luck & happy trails!🐠😻🎣
