I want to learn Xcode but stuck with Xcode 12

I started following through this book -

https://books.apple.com/us/book/id1511184145 (Develop in Swift Fundamentals Xcode 11)

My macbook is running Xcode 12 and seems very different. For example I can't select 'single view app' and then the gettingstarted file is different to the one in the book. Also can't find storyboards. :(

I can't find any tutorials on how to code an app using Xcode 12 because it seems very new.

Also I can't find the download link to Xcode 11 but it also seems stupid to learn on an older version?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :) thank you

Apple just released Xcode 12. It is going to take time for them to update their book for Xcode 12. You have three options.

  1. Wait for Apple to update the book for Xcode 12.
  2. Go through the book with Xcode 12 and fight your way through the changes.
  3. Download Xcode 11 and go through the book with it.

I recommend Option 3. Go to Xcode Releases and download and install Xcode 11.7. Make sure you either rename your Xcode 12 installation to Xcode12 or your Xcode 11 installation to Xcode11 so you don't overwrite your Xcode 12 installation. You can have both versions installed.
