how do i clear storage to do an update
I can update my computer and i am unsure how to clear storage

Take items you do not need on a daily basis and copy them over to an external drive.
Movies, images and music tend to take up the most room, copy them over and when
you have checked that they have copied over successfully, delete them from your mac.
Do not delete files from any System or Library folders or any files you do not understand,
this could seriously compromise the running of your mac.
Only delete items from within the Users/<Home> folder structure.
Make a full backup of your mac before upgrading to a new OS.
What OS are you hoping to install.
