Volume limit had been reset after the iOS 14 update

After the iOS 14 update, I can’t seem to find the volume limit for earphones/headphones. It also seems that my previously set volume limit had been reset after the iOS update.

They have instituted this new “reduce loud noises” under headphone safety, but it is absolutely not the same thing and almost completely unhelpful. I have used volume limit forever and it’s helpful EXACTLY the way it was. This new setting is not at ALL an adequate replacement. I don’t care about tracking my headphone usage or any of that bs, I just want to limit my volume manually.

what a useless deletion. This probably affects only a small group of people, but this is legitimately a make or break issue for me. Can’t even email Apple to express my frustration.

You can't email them but you can fill in this feedback form

Which is better: reducing the volume across the board, or leaving it as it is, except for the parts that cross a certain threshold of noise?

I actually prefer it the new way, i.e. only reducing the loudest sounds while leaving the quieter sounds just as audible as before. On the other hand, Beelock makes a valid point that the old function reduced all sounds, which expanded the volume slider to allow more precise adjustment with the volume buttons.

I would say reducing sound across the board is better, for me personally. I without a doubt prefer it the previous way. One reason being what Breelock mentioned about precision in changes. Listening to music on very low volume has become extremely difficult.

Also though, it doesn’t reduce the sound as much as I want it to. I have it turned to the lowest setting (so it reduces the most sound), and it’s still too loud. So really, the setting (for my purposes) isn’t meeting the standards of the previous setting at all.

My phone spontaneously updated two days ago, so this is very fresh for me. Thank you for the feedback form suggestion.
