If you set up an additional trusted phone number for getting an authentication code you can use that, then log in to https://appleid.apple.com and you can change the number there under Security settings. You can also go to Settings/[your name]/Password & Security and tap on Get a Verification Code if you need one to log in to your Apple ID account.
