Apple TV Wireless Audio Sync not working with Bluetooth headsets

I connected my bluetooth headset to my 4th gen Apple TV, and noticed that the sound was out of sync. Then I found this article that states that the Wireless Audio Sync function can be used to sync audio from bluetooth speakers. However, this is not working.

How is this supposed to sync the bluetooth audio from bluetooth speakers when the test tones are played through the TV speakers? This does not make any sense (and it doesn’t work either). Is this a bug, or am I doing it wrong?

And ....

Calibrate audio between your wired and wireless speakers

If your Apple TV is connected to a home theatre receiver or TV using an HDMI cable, you may experience audio latency, a delay that sounds like an echo when playing audio on both receiver speakers and a wireless speaker.

You can use an iPhone to calibrate the audio signal on your Apple TV so that all speakers play in sync.

  1. Open Settings  on Apple TV.
  2. Go to Video and Audio, then scroll down to Calibration.
  3. Select Wireless Audio Sync, then follow the onscreen instructions.

I would first recommended you force quit the Apps you were using, then restart ATV. Reboot your wifi modem, if using. This can often fix synching issues.
