On my iPad 6th gen and IPAD OS 14, universal search is not working. You type name of an app installed, it doesn’t show in search, type any note heading or content of a note - it doesn’t show. It even not showing the contacts in this search. Only Siri suggestion from net, web search and maps are displayed as search suggestions.

But more results also didn’t worked for me. However, got the solution by resetting the settings of the iPad. After reset it started working fine. Some setting might have been disturbed which caused the issue.

Ah, well. I discovered the App Library this morning, apparently a new feature of iOS 14. Swiped left a few times and there it was after the last Home Screen. Don’t agree with how they’ve organized things BUT there is a search field at the top. That may be what you need.

ipad has universal search by swiping down on any screen. With iPad OS 14 it has improved a bit and gives Siri knowledge, installed apps, contact details as well as documents stored in the files or other apps. By resetting the settings it started working as I replied earlier.
App Library is only for iOS not for iPad OS.
I had to tap on “more results” to get it to show an installed app. See if that might do the trick for you?
Scratch that. It only works on the phone not the iPad. Sigh.
