Geotag on photos not working since iOS 14 upgrade.

Ever since I upgraded to iOS 14, my iPhone does not show the geotag location at the top of each picture. Only the date and time it was taken. My camera settings are correct and my location settings are accurate, but it won’t show the location on the photos. The photos I have that were taken before installing iOS 14 show the location and geotag still. But any picture taken since the upgrade does not show the location.

I talked with Apple Support and this issue is now fixed on my IPhone 11 Pro, OS 14.01

You have to go into Privacy again, and then toggle the Location off and then back on. Then the camera icon will now appear under Privacy, so then click on Camera, then select allow location while using device. That fixed it. Before the Camera icon wasn't appearing under Privacy. So, toggling location off and then on again somehow reset it.

definitely a bug - I slightly altered some very old photo locations on my Mac, I'm using iCloud photos and they instantly lost the location info on my iPad whilst the same (airdropped) photos on my wife's iPad stayed correct. Not only that but numerous other photos in the same "vicinity" (ie. taken or imported around the same time) also lost location info on my ipad. This appeared to be random so I checked a lot of other old photos and found that many had also now lost location info. I then airdropped some old photos with correct location info onto my wife's iPad and it had the same effect; those photos did not show location info on my wife's iPad and other photos also lost their location info - I spent months retro-fitting location information onto old scanned and imported photos and now it's gradually disappearing... this is really annoying and unless it's fixed the "new iPad for Christmas" (for both of us) is now looking very doubtful

UK here.

I updated to 14.2 when it was available (5th Nov I think).

Photo's taken @ home remained fine & showed home in the photo title bar . Photo's taken in the last few weeks @ other locations updated and locations appeared in the photo title bar (just above date/time stamp).

Took some more photo's today when out @ within a few minutes the location appeared in the photo title bar - this was whilst connected to my network provider (Vodafone) and on 4G.

So......so far so good.....but time will tell.

Interestingly enough, the photo's app doesn't appear in the location services menu (settings - privacy - location services), but camera does. Prior to upgrading to ios 14, I had photos in the location services menu, so apple have obviously done something in the background so that locations on photo's (for most) are now appearing without having it in the location services menu.

After upgrading my iPhone 11 Pro Max, iOS 14.2 does NOT capture the geotag, but only shows the map display below the photo. My work iPhone 7 will capture the geotag, but it is just a very general title. Instead of displaying the exact precise location it just shows the city name and state. This happens even with 'Precise Location' turned ON. I still think this is a iOS 14 problem that Apple is unable to figure out or still in the process of trying to figure out. Hopefully iOS 14.2.1 -OR- iOS 14.3 will correct this issue.

yeah I have the iPhone XR and the issue happened right after updating to IOS 14, although now it’s fixed itself somehow...I’ve been shutting my phone off recently to focus on schoolwork and I guess the last time I did it, it started to work again? Really weird if you ask me. Anyways, I think it’s inconsistent with turning off the phone, and will randomly happen (fix itself). Then again, I don’t have an iPhone 12 so I don’t know if it can be fixed on that device or not.

Ayt since no one is talking about it now. iOS 14.2 did bring it back but the accuracy was far less accurate. Plus when you took several pics in different places in a single day, you ended up getting the same inaccurate geotag.

updated to iOS 14.4 and the geotagging ain’t working again quite often.

APPLE PLEASE BRING BACK THE IOS 12 PHOTOS APP IM SO TIRED OF THE NEW DESIGN ITS TRASH, ITS HELLA NOT USER FRIENDLY ON IPADOS TOO. I AM TIRED OF UPDATING ANY APPLE SOFTWARE FR.

Try with iOS 14.5.

i disable iCloud photo, delete my photos on my iPad and re-enable iCloud photo. always the same problem, some photos have a bad geotag. On my Mac, the location is the good one.

Very strange this bug and very annoying.

For exemple on a photo the location on my iPad is Bayonne instead of Bidard. On my Mac, I have Erretegia Nord Bidard, which is the good location.
