iPhone 7 Mic Problem iOS 14

I recently updated my iPhone 7 to IOS 14. Now the microphone doesn't work so I can't make phone calls (they can't hear me and I can't hear them, send audio messages or talk to Siri. Anyone else encounter this issue. Is there a way to fix this. Please help!!!!

Same, started today after IOS 14 update. This is a nightmare with working at home. I’ve tried everything and can’t find a fix. I can make calls with a Bluetooth headset as a temporary workaround but none of my apps that require listening work. Siri, voice notes, guitar tuner, Duolingo, voice to text, FaceTime, zoom, etc. All disabled.

Apple has got a shiny new fix.. iPhone 12. That's the suggestion I got from guys at Apple. I had iPhone 7 Plus, I was told that its problem with main board (whatever that is) and it can't be repaired. Being software engineer all my working life (21 years), I couldn't understand the relationship that OS upgrade causing hardware failure until there is a defect / scenario not catered for. It seems to me like firmware + hardware + OS combination. Anyway, options given to me after spending almost 12 hours with Apple Support and in store:

1 - buy new 7 Plus - £339

2 - buy another iPhone after trading in 7 Plus - up £130 contribution towards the new phone

3 - raise a case according to consumer law in your country; you will only get a depreciated value for your phone which will be approx. £130

I was so annoyed but had no option as I can't afford to loose another day of work. Phone is very important while you are working from home in COVID times so I reluctantly went for option 2, got £120 and bough iPhone SE. I have 9 apple devices at home. My de-Apple-isation starts now... no more apple devices in future. Just ordered Surface Pro instead of iPAD pro that I was waiting for long long time. Thanks Apple. Thanks Tim. God Bless Steve.

Apple service engineers not gonna fix it in this way - it requires significant amount of highly qualified engineers which is costly in main selling countries and hard to obtain them in the quantities they need. So swap to new one is the best solution they can provide for out of warranty phones. The other one that is easy is replacement of motherboard - but its costly as well. They just cannot do the time consuming qualified job, while it may be done in some third party services in some countries.

I'll write here will the audio chip replacement help me. If yes and stays for 1-2 weeks, than it will be a proof of a hardware problem.

Apple has given us the screw job and I’m not standing for it. They have lost a lifetime customer. For the first time in my life I’ve looked at other phone options and I gotta say I like what I see, the new Samsung S20 )and Pixel 5) look freaking sweet and are way cheaper with better hardware that won’t be destroyed by iOS virus software.

It took me some time to accept how awful Apple is for doing this but replacing this brick that Apple has destroyed might be a blessing in disguise.

Now that I’ve joined team Samsung my head is in a much better place. I suggest others do the same!
