Apple has got a shiny new fix.. iPhone 12. That's the suggestion I got from guys at Apple. I had iPhone 7 Plus, I was told that its problem with main board (whatever that is) and it can't be repaired. Being software engineer all my working life (21 years), I couldn't understand the relationship that OS upgrade causing hardware failure until there is a defect / scenario not catered for. It seems to me like firmware + hardware + OS combination. Anyway, options given to me after spending almost 12 hours with Apple Support and in store:
1 - buy new 7 Plus - £339
2 - buy another iPhone after trading in 7 Plus - up £130 contribution towards the new phone
3 - raise a case according to consumer law in your country; you will only get a depreciated value for your phone which will be approx. £130
I was so annoyed but had no option as I can't afford to loose another day of work. Phone is very important while you are working from home in COVID times so I reluctantly went for option 2, got £120 and bough iPhone SE. I have 9 apple devices at home. My de-Apple-isation starts now... no more apple devices in future. Just ordered Surface Pro instead of iPAD pro that I was waiting for long long time. Thanks Apple. Thanks Tim. God Bless Steve.
