Accountsd Mac cpu is high

this dream came to me from one moment to the next. I updated from 10.15.6 to 10.15.7, deleted my Google accounts, reset my keychain ... nothing worked. Then I signed out of the Apple ID and signed in again. My computer asked me for my local password, presumably to change something in the setup and that did the magic. The CPU load went back immediately.

Same here, right after 10.15.7 upgrade. Deleted all accounts in Mail (except for the iCloud one ...), tried the keychain trick (this one worked ... or seems to have been ... for a day but ... here we go again).

Few years ago I could never imagine I'd be stuck with this kind of issues on a Mac ... :-(

I discovered this bug after every kind of those recommendations again.

but I had a quiet and performant time today, after I quit all processes with over 10% CPU usage and a „d“ in the end of its name. Additional I quit the process WindowServer and after the new login my Mac was quiet...and did a good job.

Remove any Exchange accounts from Mail solution worked for me :)

we all tried so many things.

the only thing that worked for me was to quit all ! Processes with over 10% CPU Usage except backupd if you run timemachine.

all those processes has a ending with a d

after quit all those, shut down your login session by quit process „WindowServer“

after that, you have to login again and the fan slows down after1-2minutes

The trigger for the problem was Outlook for Mac and I could not even kill the process (accountsd) in command line, as explained by others.

Note: oddly enough I get plenty of Certificate alerts in Safari (with Avast plugin) when I try to download the Combo update, accepting these did not help, so I used Firefox to download it.

Logging out of my Apple-ID and rebooting solved the issue (temporarily from me).

AccountSD still using too much CPU (60%, better than 700% though) but it's workable now.

Also run a system diagnostic test under activity monitor.

I signed off from the AppleID and back in. After entering my password a hundred times for KeyChain I still don't have KeyChain working again. The accountsd process is also still using all of my CPU.

macOS is getting worse year after year.

Wonderful! Now I can't login to my appleID because if I do get up-to 700% of cpu usage. Catalina 10.5.6

Already tried everything suggested in this thread, this seems like a server-side iCloud related bug.

.. after trying out a lot of recommendations like deleting Keychain and several folders, only signing out from iCloud and resetting the NVRAM (did it twice) on my late 2015 Retina 5K iMac solved the problem on this device.

Seems like not every system behaves the same way? Anyhow - I'd rather wait to install 10.15.7 if using it with iCloud, maybe / hopefully there will be a fix for this issue.

Replying to myself, as it seems back to normal:

• Combo update --> ok for 8 hours then back
• deactivate keychain - did nothing
• deactivate keychain -repair permissions (Onyx) --> Ok for CPU but message in the prefs that I needed to reconnect to my Apple Account even though I already did so... This also popped up the CPU and accountsd for a while

It appeared that the 2 factors authentication actually asked me to reconnect to my account from my iPhone ('it just works' hum...).

I have a MacBook Pro 16 inches from last year, got the same problem since updated to 10.15.7 it makes my Mac unusable. What helped, for now, is to reset the NVRam (Option+Command+R+P) at bootup. Looks like it solved my problem.... for now.

well, i don't see this marked as solved, so i'm just going to suggest that you maybe contact apple about it, maybe you could also include a sample (if no private information is shown in it) of the process and maybe it'd help some people like me understand what things are being done to make your cpu go to 500% (or well more so the process take up 500% cpu), also try restarting your computer because over time processes glitch and stuff, like if you dont restart your computer atleast every week or two, windowserver gets REALLY crazy, like for me i didnt restart my computer one time for 2 months and windowserver started taking up 2.4 gb of memory with NOTHING open (compared to what its supposed to be at which is around 350 mb for my computer), so try restarting your computer, and also maybe try paying attention to memory more so than cpu, because memory will be more helpful (unless its really glitched, then it'd say something probably like only 600 mb of memory, but then cpu will be at 500%, then that's a problem)

For my Retina 15 MacBook Pro 2019.

After several restarts and trying every single trick on this thread (restart, reinstall the update, downloading the combo update and reinstall, logout iCloud, logout mail accounts, etc. ), 'cause I only own this computer and I must make it work.

Finally This https://www.titanium-software.fr/en/onyx.html app fix the problem. Maybe it works because the app restart's several caches and makes spotlight reindex everything.

I've also tried everything. Shut down, re-install the Catalina Combo package, Login - Logout....nothing!

@Apple: could you please FIX this problem ASAP? I'm doing home-office like a lot of other people, and with this type of fan working all the time and cpu at 400%...it's impossible to work!
