Transferring Adobe Apps to New Macbook

I just bought a new Macbook Pro & am having a bit of trouble preparing my old computer (same model, mid-2017) for trade-in. I gave up on the Migration Assistant after multiple tries in a bunch of different configurations. I updated my old Mac to Catalina from Mojave finally, just to try and get the MA to work, but it still failed, so I had to give up & set up the new computer from scratch. Anyway, I'm reading a lot of conflicting info about Adobe products & compatibility with Catalina, but Photoshop 20.0, Illustrator (23.0.1), and Acrobat Pro DC (2019.008.20071) are all working fine on my old Macbook after the update to Catalina. What I can't seem to figure out is how to transfer these installations over to the new computer, preferably without blowing away all of my settings. Any guidance/shared experiences appreciated!

Kurt's answer is correct, Migration Assistant used to migrate Adobe applications properly but it no longer is able to do that due to the way that Adobe sets things up. So the right path is to deactivate all Adobe items on the old Mac before erasing its disk, and installing fresh all the Adobe applications on the new Mac. This is true for both the cc applications as well as the standalone ones.

If you have items like special settings or presets under Adobe on the old Mac, those will need to be brought over manually. Be sure to take the time to do this and verify before deactivating Adobe on the old Mac and erasing its disk. My daughter had some problems with this migration and we ended up on a long Adobe support call where the Adobe person explained how to do this. I think it is easiest if your old and new computers have the same (Catalina) OS, because then the files should all be in the same locations.

You don't need to transfer them over. What you should have done (or I should say, is easier) is sign out of your CC account on the old Mac, which would deactivate the suite for that Mac.

After that, sign in to your account on Adobe's site from the new Mac. From there you'd install main Creative Cloud app. Launch that on your Mac and install fresh copies of the CC apps you use from Adobe's servers.

The only thing I bring over from an old Mac to a new one are the user account preferences files for the Adobe apps so I don't have to do all of those menu and other app settings over again from scratch.

Also, the older Mac is now holding an activation open. You get two device activations at any one time. Sign out of the old Mac if you don't want it to be activated anymore.
