Is my Apple Pencil safe to use?

I had the unfortunate event where my dog chewed off the end of the apple pencil (2nd Gen), but I went ahead and check to see if it still work and it does. Should I still use it? Is it safe? Could I just like wrap electrical tape around it or something?
