what does '! ' mark mean in my icloud?

I am using a video editing software and want to open a file stored on icloud.

However, the video editing tool shows ' sorry- this recording has missing files since i cloud drive 'optimise my storage' is on.

When I checked the file in i-cloud. I see a '! ' mark next to the file.

When I tried to click it, it simply shows ' there is no application set to open this document.

How can I remove this '! ' mark or stop the 'optimise my storage' function so I can access my files?

( This is on my mac)

Hi shinyifromlondon,

Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems like you see a cloud with an exclamation mark on some files.

Are you using iCloud Drive?

Have you tried turning optimize my storage off?

Do you have any other error using iCloud?

"

Error

The song file is corrupt or there was an error uploading the song. Choose File > Library > Update Cloud Music Library to resolve this. If updating doesn't resolve the issue, try importing a new copy of the song into your music library."

Identify cloud status icons in your music library on your Mac or PC

Please don't hesitate to let us know if the steps resolved your issue or if you need additional assistance.

Cheers.
