I need to do a back up on my icloud to change to my new phone , but its asking

My back up by turning on my mail its saying

create a free @ icloud.com email address to turn on icloud . What does that mean?

i dont want to loose my emails so its not on when i go to back up my icloud

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 13
