Deleted e mails

I think I asked this question before, but no response.

My question is, We received an e mail from a person known to us, saying we should click on a DROP BOX link. we did not do this and asked the friend if they sent it and they said no. Some one must have hacked the persons e mail and contact list.

WE immedtely deleted the mail.

The question is, when looking in the trash or spam folder it ad disappeared .We have I pad and computer synced so it did not show up in any device.

Another neighbor had the same experience.

Does anyone know why this can happen, it is very fishy to have this one mail not going to trash

thanks

pulpman,

Thanks for getting back to us. The steps that we previously advised will help determine if the email can be located. Specifically, we suggest to review the preferences for the Mailbox Behaviors on your Mac to review how deleted emails are stored. You mentioned having your email account synced across three devices, therefore; we encourage for you to review the preferences for the Mail app on your computer.

Specifically for emails that are erased as junk messages it states, "Mail automatically deletes junk messages at the specified time. Select a setting other than Never to avoid exceeding storage limits set by your email account provider." That information is outlined here: Change Mailbox Behaviors preferences in Mail on Mac

Best regards.

Hello pulpman,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand you're unable to locate a deleted email through your Apple devices. We'll be happy to help.

You mentioned having two additional Apple devices, including a computer. If you have a Mac, you may have specific preferences set for Mailbox Behaviors. We suggest to review your settings for the Mail app on your Mac by following these steps: Change Mailbox Behaviors preferences in Mail on Mac

Kind regards.

Thank you for your reply.

I probably did not make myself clear.

I do not have a problem with deleting e mails.

when I delete it shows up in my junk/Trash file.

The one I questioned was an obviously frauulentent scam.

When I looked at the junk/trash file, other deleted items were there , but not this fraudulent one.

Is it possible that the scammer has a way of making their mail disappear? It was not in the deleted files on any of my devices.

Do you have any idea how this was accomplished by the scammer?

Thanks but doubt if this will solve the question.

i have deleted hundreds of e mails and always find them in trash/junk.

I know junk is really deleted after a set time ,but this one was checked the next day ,and all other deleted mails were there.

,not the scam one.

the scam mail I got somehow was programmed to disappear if deleted.?
