Time Machine backup of two accounts on a single backup disk

Does TM indeed back up both accounts either simultaneously or sequentially?

More importantly, and this is a bit hard to explain... I am a first time user of two accounts. Both are mine, I merged two machines into one machine with 2 accounts. I want TM to backup both accounts (all data) constantly. I don't know which account to run TM from. Obviously both accounts (both are admins) can see the TM backup drive attached, but which one 'runs' the backups?! Bit confusing. I also can't work out whether, IF only one account manages the backups, it will backup while I am using the other user account. I don't know if that means the other account is "sleeping", or still active or... Any advice greatly appreciated as I am mightily confused! thanks

Backing Up with Time Machine Does Time Machine backup multiple users at once or must they be backed up individually? I have two users on my MacBook Air M1 and will be upgrading to the latest OS over the weekend. But, if it fails and I lose my wife’s “stuff”.. my name will be mud. So, I want to be sure I have a complete backup available of both users. Thank you for your time Ralph

It backs up the entire startup drive, accounts and all.
