Photos (for Mac) cannot identify iPhone X

Greetings Mac users,

I have recently come across this issue, and perhaps others have the same incident.

For background:

MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)

iPhone X

iOS 10.0.1

macOS 10.15.7

Photos 5.0 (161.0.120)

This incident has not taken place prior to updating the macOS/iOS.

Incident: upon connecting the iPhone to the MacBook Pro, and opening Photos, the Photos window "hangs" at "Please unlock iPhone".

I performed a restart, did a reinstall (Option-Command-R), and connected via direct cable (lightning to usb-c)...none of these allowed the iPhone to be identified.

Anyone have any ideas?

Since the last posting on this thread, my iPhone his working fine with my MBP and downloading photos.

Case solved :-)

Connect iPhone to Mac

Use your USB lightening cable --> Resolve USB-related alerts in iTunes - Apple Support

If unable to connect --> If iTunes doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support

Thank you for responding.

In fact, I have genuine Apple cables, and the issue is still present.

The MacBook identifies the iPhone, and syncing works fine, it's the Photos application that does not work.
