I replaced my MacBook Pro Touchpad 2016 battery, now the battery won't charge

I noticed the bottom case on my MacBook Pro Touchpad 2016 was uneven, and discovered the batteries were swollen. So I ordered a replacement from iFixIt. Their online instructions are great, but the procedure to replace a battery is unreasonably complex. Now the MacBook Pro powers up, but the battery will not charge, even after leaving it plugged in overnight. I have gone back in twice to verify that the battery board data connector is firmly seated in the ZIF socket, and that the battery power connector is seated under the pancake screw. I also followed the procedure to reset the SMC, but I’m never quite sure it works since there is no visual or audio feedback. Any ideas on how to make the battery able to be charged?

Well, this was not the answer, but it was more helpful then telling me that these batteries are not user serviceable.

Portable Mac batteries are not user-replaceable for the reasons you describe, among others.

Since you made the decision to replace it yourself Apple is likely to refuse service for that Mac at any price though. All you can do is ask.
