Apple Watch series 3 M/L band won’t lock

I just got an Apple Watch series 3 38mm and the M/L band that came with it won’t lock into place. It slides back and forth. I know it’s not a problem with the case because the S/M band does lock (unfortunately it doesn’t fit me). Is there any way to get the band to lock or do I just need to get a different band?

Hello APENGUIN13,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

Based on what you mentioned, it sounds like you have an issue with the Milanese Loop and the magnetic bonding from the clasp. Make sure there is nothing covering the stainless steel tip.

Since "the Milanese Loop is infinitely adjustable", the main concern would be that magnetic component. If it's not sticking, you may be able to get help where you are when you Contact Apple for support and service.

You can find more information about the Milanese Loop here: 40mm Silver Milanese Loop.

Best wishes!

Hello barberlives123,

Thanks for the additional information.

If you mean that you are having trouble fastening the band to the Apple Watch, there are some tips Apple has to help Change your Apple Watch band. It's not impossible for the mechanisms to be a bit tight upon first use, but never force the band to lock in.

Please review: Remove, change, and fasten Apple Watch bands.

Cheers!
