If you didn't have Microsoft Office before upgrading to Catalina, either subscribe to Microsoft 365 or make a one-time purchase. See: https://products.office.com/en-us/buy/compare-microsoft-office-products-for-mac?ms.officeurl=mac-compare-redir

If you did have it before upgrading, note that older versions are not compatible with Catalina. See the following for options:

If you have an early version of Office for Mac 2016, you can update it at no charge. However note that connecting to Microsoft 365 services using Office 2016 for Mac is not supported by Microsoft after October 13, 2020. See: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/troubleshoot/administration/office-2016-for-mac-64-bit-upgrade

If you have Office for Mac 2011 or earlier, you can either subscribe to Microsoft 365 or you can make a one-time purchase. See: https://products.office.com/en-us/buy/compare-microsoft-office-products-for-mac?ms.officeurl=mac-compare-redir

Or use the free Microsoft Office on the web: https://products.office.com/en-us/free-office-online-for-the-web

Or Google Docs: https://www.google.com/docs/about/

Other options include using the free and very good Libre Office https://www.libreoffice.org/

or Apple's Pages and Numbers

You can use Microsoft 365 subscription-ware, or the single-purchase Office 2019 for Mac as they are 64-bit. The 64-bit Office 2016 for Mac will be retired in October without further support, so not a practical choice. The Office 2008 and 2011 for Mac suites are incompatible with Catalina because they are not 64-bit. Your documents however, are neither 32 or 64-bit and will be fine on Catalina.

If you choose to subscribe to Microsoft 365, those applications are in the Mac App Store. The single-purchase Office 2019 for Mac is available from Microsoft's online store, and other retail sources.

If you are undecided at this point, you can also install the free, 64-bit LibreOffice Suite which is a clone of MS Office, and opens/saves

I don’t think otherwise. I’m merely informing the OP that Microsoft products are not free. You would be surprised by the number of people who think they are free. The OP sounds like they upgraded to Catalina and found their old Office apps no longer work. There are hundreds of threads on these forums about just that. And most expect a free upgrade from Microsoft.
