my iPhone asks that I approve this iPhone from another device, but it does not prompt the other device nor does it give me a place to enter verification code on my iPhone.

See if anything here helps.  If necessary, you can use account recovery as explained in the link at bottom of the article.

Verification code - how to get one and sign in with two-factor authentication.

If you see a password box, enter the password (ABC) followed by the code (123) or ABC123 (no spaces).

Do you have access to another WiFi network where you can try? That has worked for several people.

Try a forced restart.

Reset Device.

If necessary

Hard reset.

Do a backup and try a factory reset. Then restore from your backup.

Restore to Factory setting.

Backup - Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup.

Basically there is a red 1 next to update my Apple ID settings. When I click, it asked for my Apple ID password, then asks for my iPhone passcode. Then it says that I need to authenticate but then the loading wheel just continues to turn and turn. There is no place to enter in the verification code. It also doesn’t prompt any of my others devices.

I have rebooted my iPhone and still same problem.
