I am curious to learn if another user can add my number to theirs to get access to my messages. I was informed by a friend and as usual I am skeptical. I thought I should get informed since I could not be absolutely certain.

The cheaper spy apps require them to get in your phone and download the invisible app. But the expensive apps only need your Apple ID and password.
Yes there are spy apps that will tell them anything they want but they cost anywhere from $50-$300 a month and they are undetectable. But your carrier may be able to check it and find out for you.
