Series 6 Music Capacity

Proud owner of an Apple Watch series 6 - noting that 32GB capacity was quoted in specification.

I have about 8 GB of music now on my watch, with around 16GB of free space when I check in the usage screen. Yet I am unable to add any further playlists.

Does anyone know if there is a limit (either GB or # of songs) for music on the series 6 watch?

Tom,

I called Apple a few days ago and spoke to one of their c/s reps. I complained about this same situation. I received a reply today that their engineering dept reviewed my issue.

There is a limited amount of space for music on my watch .They didn’t say whether this was a new change or not from previous watches.

I traded in my Series 4 for the 6. For some reason, I was unsuccessful in being able to put exactly the same music on my 4 onto to 6. I felt that was odd and had no idea why that was. Apparently, others are having the same issues with the very limited amount of music space now available on the watch . I feel like I’ve been fooled as no one ever told me about this change . A few weeks ago, I even set up a phone call with an Apple Rep which was offered by Apple with this purchase. I specifically asked him if there were any differences between these 2 series of watches (4 & 6). Not once did he mention anything about the amount of available space for the music . We had a lengthy discussion about the music in general.

I’m obviously not very happy with Apple. I have no idea why they even had to do this in the first place .

Thanks

Jay

Hello sbetts001,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're trying to add more music on your Apple Watch but you don't have enough space. We'd be happy to look into this with you.

To get started, please open the Settings app on your Apple Watch, and go to General > Usage.

You can also open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, tap My Watch, go to General, then tap Usage.

Check how much storage available on your Apple Watch.

We hope this information is useful. Kind regards.

Yeah, I returned my new watch and decided to just keep the 4. Got tired of spending time with Apple Care trying to sort it out. At some point I had to ask, “do I have a new watch, or does a new watch have me?” When it gets to that point, it’s time to box it back up and return it.

can’t imagine why they’d give the space but then block usage.
