Mystery Control Panel item in WatchOS 7

I recently upgraded my Apple Watch series 4 (w/ cellular) to WatchOS 7.

I now see a mysterious icon in my control panel that doesn't seem to do anything, nor is being shown in the WatchOS 7 documentation for the control panel.

The item in question is the lower right icon in the attached photo, next to the sleep mode button.
