I am running out of storage space. I have done all of the space saving actions but the largest part of my HD is greyed out and cannot be "managed". Any advise on how to get rid of the greyed out area?

If it's mostly System and that is taking up >25 GB, you need to reinstall macOS. You can do that from Recovery Mode without deleting your data.

Not really helpful I am afraid....I have already done this. My issues is that from the 120GB on my hard drive 40GB are taken up by a Grey out "Other". I have no idea what this is or how to manage this space

The Mail folder in Library had all sorts of old files that I didn't know were there....I have cleaned lots out and reduced the size of the greyed out area....it is still quite large so I am guessing I could keep searching in the Library for redundant files but I have now cleared enough memory that I am not going to bother. Thanks for the advice
