Fake Virus Warnings

Will Apple randomly send out warnings; asking you to download an app, even though I've blocked pop up ads on my phone?

I just recieved a pop up on my i-phone that my phone has a virus and I need to down load a app from the app store? I think it is bogus. I just received a full screen pop up on my I-phone, with the apple logo, that says my phone has a virus and I need to download an app from the App Store. It looked bogus? I can't get through to the Apple store by phone. Thanks for any input.

Can I have a virus downloading an app from the AppStore? I have an iPhone 8 and I was using safari and a pop up says I have 4 viruses and I need to Download an app from the app Store I downloaded but I suspect that it was scam so I eliminate the app. Can a virus get to my iPhone if I download an app?
