how do i update ios without wifi

Hmm. I imagined there must be a workaround I just hadn't stumbled upon. I have to assume I'm not the only one either by choice or necessity that this situation exists. It would seem to indicate that Apple really don't believe updates are especially necessary but are merely toys to keep the faithful entertained.

With further searching I found a writer who claimed it is an agreement with telcos to restrict heavy data use to a system (wifi)

with capabilities more aligned to the task.

Having said that it does seem odd that when using the macbook to phone hotspot system the macbook can be updated so maybe the telco story is rubbish.

I tried to keep my question really basic.

Without wifi means no wifi anywhere. I live in a remote location. There is a macbook but it uses the iPhone's hotspot for internet connection.
