iPad mini going nuts

I have had an iPad mini for going on 5 years now. Ever since i first got it, it has had this "Ghost Touch" problem where the screen actd like it has a mind of its own. It always opens random apps, downloads random apps and opens random webpages. It has had this problem for as long as i have had it, At first i didn't really mind it because it wasn't that bad, but over the years it has gotten way nore aggressive to the point where its almost unusable.

P.S. It runs iOS 9.3.1 (i tried to update it but it kept cancelling)
