Using a MacBook keyboard with an iPad Pro

I have a 3rd gen iPad Pro 12.9 and I have a 2020 MacBook Pro. I used to use a wireless keyboard case (A Logitech one) with my iPad before I got my laptop. I take a lot of handwritten notes but sometimes I find myself needing to type things. I have a matte protector on my iPad which does NOT pair well with the keyboard I have. I want to use the keyboard on my MacBook to type on my iPad, but I wasn’t sure if it was possible. I have the two devices paired to each other, but it doesn’t do anything. Is this even possible? If not, can I buy a USB keyboard and connect it with a USB-C adapter?
