You cannot retrieve it as it isn’t kept anywhere but in that locked device itself. You can erase the device to reset it, and that is the only method to reset a screen lock passcode. After you reset it by erasing it, use your iCloud or iTunes backup to restore your content.
If you actually forgot your password and not the passcode.
Enter the Apple (iCloud) ID and click Forgot Password.
