2FA Verification Code

Why does the 2FA Verification Code appear on the same device that I am signing in to?!

When signing in to my Apple ID account on my Macbook Pro, the Verification Code appears on the screen.

I thought it was supposed to appear on my mobile phone ... as I have that listed under my Trusted Phone Numbers in my Apple ID account.

This defeats the purpose of having 2FA.

Or maybe I am doing something wrong?!

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thank you for your reply Eric but ... this still makes absolutely no sense.

If somebody steals my laptop, somehow obtains my Username and Password ... the 2FA code gets sent to the laptop. Think about that ... and tell me honestly if you think that is a secure protocol.

This is a useless 2FA protocol that Apple has implemented. And this coming from a company that heavily markets security of their products.

So, how does a user (me) make a device "UN-TRUSTED"?!
