Can't get proper reinstall on 20177 MacBook 12"

I erased my SSD to sell my computer and I am trying to reinstall the software and it wants to install Sierra (which errors out at the end) and I had Catalina installed before. Why is this happening? I have a 2017 12" MacBook.

Hello servenvolley,

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, you are unable to reinstall macOS on your MacBook. To help with this, please hold the Option-⌘-R keys while starting your MacBook, then try running First Aid on your hard drive with the built in Disk Utility tool, as this can correct simple issues like you're experiencing. Then try reinstalling macOS again:

Cheers!
