Apple Activities - Map not showing

Up until a week ago Activites tracked my activity properly and produced a map. Now the activity tracks correctly (distance, speed, elevation etc) and the map shows my start point but I no longer actually get a map. I've turned location serices etc on and off, reset my watch completely etc. Its an iPhone XR and an Apple Watch Series 5. Any ideas?

iPhone XR, iOS 14

If you are using iOS 14 and watchOS 7, Apple says that the solution is to erase both devices and then restore each of them from a backup.
