Lost Airpod and Find My app doesn't play sound to find it.

I have lost my left airpod and by now it is dead/without charge. I have tried playing the sound from Find My app (It locates it correctly) but does not play a sound. I have the airpod right beside my phone and hear nothing. I'd like to fix this so if I do misplace this one I can find it. Is it a lost cause to find my left one?

Hi lcsturdi,

We appreciate you reaching out through Apple Support Communities for help with your missing left AirPod. Rest assured, we're glad to help in any way we can.

To ensure we understand correctly, please clarify for us. Is your left AirPod currently missing, or is it beside your iPhone when you attempt to play a sound?

We've got a great resource to share with you that has more information about playing a sound on your lost AirPod. Let us know if you've got any questions:

Hi lcsturdi,

Thanks for clarifying that up for us! The way that Find My works with when playing a sound to your AirPods, the AirPod must be removed from the case. It seems like the right AirPod is not playing a sound even when it's removed from the case. Is this correct?

Are you choosing the right side in the Find My app after choosing to Play Sound?

If so, let us know what happens if you reset your AirPod and charging case, then pair them back to your iPhone using the steps in this guide before testing again:

The right side does not play a sound, even when placed right next to the phone. I do not see anywhere to choose "play right side" on the Find My app, only "play sound". When I click Play Sound, "Sound Pending....will play when connected" appears but nothing happens and after a few seconds the "Sound Pending" box goes away. The app shows my air pods on the map and says "now" for last connection.

If I reset my aipods and later find the lost left airpod, will the left airpod work again?

Lost Airpod and Find My app doesn't play sound to find it.
