I want to get a refund for an unknown subscription which I was charged for
First, confirm the charge is real. There are untold numbers of false purchase mail and messages being spammed:
Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support
Identify legitimate emails from the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support
These usually seeking to obtain your Apple ID and password.

Deleting apps is not tied to subscriptions.
If you have an iPad and an iPhone for instance, you might only want the app installed on one.
