Apple Pencil (Gen 2) won’t connect

Hey both my IPad (8th Gen) & Apple Pencil (2nd Gen) are brand new just unboxed both, I can’t get the pencil to connect... I’ve tried to connect it using the magnetic connector & nothing pops up no sign of me even connecting it.. I’ve went into my Bluetooth nothing there either. I’ve watched videos but no one has it to where nothing pops, up in all the videos I’ve watched something popped up. The iPad registered the pencil or something and mine just won’t... both brand new

Your iPad8 requires a first generation Apple Pencil. The second generation Pencil is only compatible with the 2018/2020 models of iPad Pro - and the new 2020 fourth generation iPad Air.

Your iPad8 has a Lightning connector - and this is used to both pair and charge the first generation Pencil. This connection method isn’t possible with the second generation pencil - which uses an entirely different method to connect with compatible models of iPad Pro and newest iPad Air.
