My IPod touch battery drained to the point that it logged out of my Apple ID. I have no idea what my @me.com address was, but I was able to change my primary Email to one I use now through the web, but I cannot use that to unlock the IPod.
If I purchase a new IPod and link it to my Apple ID using the new primary Email address, will I still have access to all my previous downloads?

No, if I understand your question you want to use a different rmail address (AppleID) than the one which you used to purchase your apps. That won't work. You need to recover your original ID and password.
