IpadOS Tags Search Problem

I discovered if I create a file tag on a mac formatted hard drive in MacOS and read that drive on my iPad Pro with iPadOS 14, it will not allow me to search for the tag in the files app even though the tags show up in the file's info while browsing on the ipad. Meaning: the tags are properly being read by the iPadOS, they're just not searchable.

However, if a tag was created on the ipad itself, it searches the tag just fine. It's a curious problem and I hope there's a solution to it otherwise it means for tags to be searchable on MacOs and iPadOS, they would need to be created on the iPad which would be a strange limitation to have.
