Turn off multitasking / app switcher?

Does anyone know of a way to simply turn off the app switching feature? I know that Apple went to great lengths to get this feature in iOS4, but it's something that I never missed, and it causes more problems for me than it solves. I'd like to disable it altogether, if possible.

This is a feature that a lot of people don't want. My wife just wants to use her phone, and she's not someone who really wants to consider her memory usage. Most of the time when she is experiencing computer trouble, it's because she has 20 apps open on her MacBook Pro. So you can only imagine what her app switcher menu looks like.

If this it's not possible to turn off this feature, consider this a dot release request, Apple!

Thanks.

BTW, I love the new iPhone, and I think everyone should lay off.

I know what you mean about the double-click on the Home button thing, but I've opened more than 25 Apps, including big games and GPS navigation, and have never seen a hit in performance, so I'm not sure it's something to worry about.

It would be nice to set the function of the Home button like before, but that could add complexity to some Preferences setting people would also have problems with. However, it's possible something like that may come out in a future update.

No option to turn off.
Also note, items in app switcher 95% of the time are not running and the OS should clean out older apps from it when it needs memory.

So perhaps with next update they just work on it more so it manages memory better if you are seeing issues do to apps in memory that are not processing.

If you wish to suggest anything to Apple directly, the feedback page is used for that instead of the user to user forum.
