I am trying to use the flip camera with 2x magnification to record an instructional video of myself. But it seems that the 2x only works when I capture what is facing away from me. I appreciate any comments and suggestions.

Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems like you want to use the 2x zoom while recording a video. While you can use 2x zoom on the rear facing camera with photos and videos, there is no option for zooming on the front facing camera.
