Repairing my watch

So I forgot my password and restarted my Apple Watch. I was prompted to update my watch so I can finish pairing it with my phone. Now it’s saying that my watch is up to date but I can not continue with the process of pairing. What do I do?

how to reset my apple watch I have an apple watch that i forgot my password. It was connected to an old phone so i cant erase the password by using my phone. The factory reset by holding the buttons also is not working on the watch.
