Mirror iPhone screen on Mac using Quicktime - Not working

I am trying to mirror my iPhone (SE2) screen to my Macbook Pro using Quicktime according to the protocol described in Apple Support:

connect the iPhone to the Macbook by cable

open Quicktime on the Mac

go 'File/New movie recording'

choose 'my iPhone' on the drop-down menu next to the record button

get error message 'no access to camera'

This used to work and was a lifesaver for offline. But now it doesn't, at least for me. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it a bug? Or has this feature been discontinued (Aaargh)?

Hello dicty2,

We understand you're unable to mirror your iPhone's screen using Quicktime Player. We'll be happy to help out.

To start, is your iPhone unlocked when you attempt to complete the steps you've mentioned? If not, please unlock your iPhone and test further. If you continue to have issues, restart your Mac and test further.

Additionally, make sure QuickTime Player has access to your camera using the steps here:

Control access to your camera on Mac
