Recommended RAM upgrade

Can I use more RAM than is recommended on mid 2012 MacBook Pro?

Max recommended is 2x4 = 8gb, can I go 2x8 =16gb?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.14

If your RAM can be upgraded you can go as high as 16GB. Check OWC for available RAM upgrade kits for your model/year computer.
