Yes, if the contacts are included in your backup. You can also sync contacts with iCloud in which case they are not included in the backup and are instead stored on Apple’s servers so that you can download them again when restoring a backup.


When you sync contacts with iCloud, your actions are reflected across your devices. If you edit a contact on one device, the edit appears on all devices.


When you sync contacts with iCloud, you would have turned that action on in the settings. You can check this in Settings>Your Name>iCloud>Apps using iCloud>Contacts. If the button is green, (turned on) that means that you are syncing contacts with iCloud. If the button is not green (turned off), then your contacts are included in the backup.
