Apple Classroom Lock Into Google Classroom

Our district is 1:1 with iPads and we’re using Google Classroom as our learning platform. Several teachers also make use of the Apple Classroom app to monitor and guide students. If a teacher locks the students’ iPads into the Google Classroom app, is there a way for the students to open the Google Docs and Slides and such to be edited? It seems kind of dumb to only be able to lock them into the Classroom stream without being able to actually complete the work, which is why I’m asking. Thank you!

Locking devices to an app using classroom is an extension of the Single App Mode framework. You can't use other apps while locked in. If this presents problems, the device can be restricted to only using certain apps, locking in can simply be not used, or Google may need to create a solution.
