Microphone on Mac not working

hello,

yesterday i was trying to join my zoom class, but it said that it did not detect a microphone on my computer. I went to security and privacy settings to check if zoom had access to the mic, and it did. I then checked sound settings, and I found that there is no device listed under input devices, not even the built-in microphone. I restarted my computer, but this did not fix the problem. What should i do?

Also, i updated my computer to the newest software update a few hours before the issue started to occur.

Hi,

Resetting NVRAM could solve sound related issues.
