Hey jojoinsf1,

Thank you for asking Apple Support Communities about this! We see that an alert is appearing advising that an update is needed when you connect your iPhone. What happens if you choose "Install"? Does it show an update is available and start to install it? Let's also double check that your devices are fully updated. For your Mac, the current software version is 10.15.7. To find out what you have installed, select the Apple menu > About This Mac > Overview. For your iPhone, the current software version is 14.0.1. Tap Settings > General > About to see what you have installed on your iPhone. If updates are needed, be sure to back up first. Here are some guides to help, just in case:

For your iPhone:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Update apps or use automatic downloads

For your Mac:

How to update the software on your Mac

Keep us posted!

Take care.
